Fishing isn’t exactly the fastest 99 but it is a skill that can be done primarily through AFK gameplay, depending on the method you end up choosing. In this OSRS Fishing Guide, we’ll start off with the fastest way to reach 99 and finish off with the most profitable way to reach 99 fishing.

Recommendation: Complete Sea Slug quest

If you have 30 firemaking, it is helpful for you to skip the first 24 hunting levels and complete this task instead. I 100% recommend doing this, if you have the required firemaking level, it will be much faster.

Levels 1-20 shrimp/anchovy fishing

Shrimp are caught with a small net, and you get 10 trials per catch. At fishing level 15 you get anchovies, each of which gives you 40 trials. Requires 252 shrimp to reach level 15 in the fishery and then 206 shrimp or 52 fish to reach level 20 in the osrs fishery.

Shrimp/anchovy fishing grounds: Lumbridge Swamp, Draynor Village, Catherby (P2P)

Levels 20-58 OSRS Fly Fishing

From 20 levels you can unlock the opportunity to catch trout with fly fishing. This is the fastest way to reach OSRS level 58. From level 30 onwards, salmon can also be caught in the fly fishery. Each salmon gives you 50 fishing experiences and each salmon 70 fishing experiences.

Experience speed: 25-35 km / h

Levels 58-99 OSRS Barbarian Fishing

At fishing level 58, you open up the opportunity to catch jumping salmon through barbaric fishing. Barbarian fishing is the fastest way to practice old school Runescape fishing and it has to be done up to 99 prey if you want to get the biggest catch as fast as possible. You don’t make money jumping from salmon/sturgeon fishing in Osiris because you drop it to increase your experience (banking is not an option in barbaric fishing, it’s simply too far away).

When you reach fishing level 70, you will also start fishing more vaulted, which will slightly increase your experience. The jumping salmon gives 70 XP per catch and the jumping sturgeon 80 XP per catch. With barbarian hunting, you also get to experience strength and agility as an added bonus, making this a very effective way to practice towards the maximum level of osrs.

Requirements for barbarian fishing:

    ● Fishing level: 50 (leaping salmon)/70(leaping sturgeon)

    ● Strength level: 30(leaping salmon)/45(leaping sturgeon)

    ● Agility level: 30(leaping salmon)/45(leaping sturgeon)

    ● Start Barbarian training (speak to Otto)

Barbarian fishing equipment: Heavy Fishing Rod

Barbarian fishing EXP rates:

    ● 30-45K/H from 58-70

    ● 50-60K/H from 70-99

Barbarian fishing location: Barbarian Outpost (games necklace/minigame teleport)

Upgrading the barbarian hunting method to 99 will give you 1.2 million more experience in both agility and power. You can get 90-110 thousand experiences in mite handling.
