OSRS: The Best Achievement Diary Perks Guide

Oct-19-2024 PST

Welcome to another Old School RS (OSRS) guide. As many of you know, one of the key milestones in Old School RS account progression is obtaining the Achievement Diary Cape. I've often stressed its importance as it signifies a well-rounded account and provides numerous benefits that can propel you toward maxing your stats. Today, we'll delve into a comprehensive breakdown of the best and worst Achievement Diary rewards, focusing on the final tier of each item. Additionally, we'll cover the most difficult or tedious tasks associated with each Diary, regardless of the tier.

Now, let's dive in. This article is divided into two parts. First, we'll rank the Achievement Diary rewards based on their usefulness, focusing only on the final tier of each item. Second, we'll categorize every Diary reward into four groups: Useless, Situational or Ironman-specific, Useful, and Must-Have.

Part 1: Ranking Achievement Diary Rewards

Let's begin by ranking the rewards, starting from the least useful.

The Least Useful Rewards

Western Provinces Banner 4: The Western Provinces Diary offers some benefits, but its banner is among the least useful. It provides unlimited teleports to the Piscatoris Fishing Colony, which isn't highly sought after unless you're chasing clue steps or fishing monkfish. The worst part of this Diary? Killing 1,000 chompy birds for the Elite tier—a tedious grind!

    • Wilderness Sword 4: The Wilderness Sword 4 grants unlimited teleports to the Fountain of Rune and can be used for easy access to the Wilderness Volcano for Master Clue Scrolls. It also guarantees a successful web slash, but most players can achieve this with a basic slash weapon. Crafting a rune scimitar from scratch is the toughest part of this Diary, given the high mining and smithing requirements.

    • Morytania Legs 4: Morytania Legs 4 offers teleportation to Burgh de Rott, which is mostly handy for clue steps. It also provides access to the slime pool under the Ectofuntus, useful for buckets of slime. The most daunting task in this Diary is 96 Fishing, which can be boosted to 91 with an Admiral pie.

Solid Mid-Tier Rewards

    • Explorer's Ring 4: A staple for farming runs, the Explorer's Ring 4 gives three daily teleports to the cabbage patch near Draynor Village and 30 free high alchemy casts. However, if you've stopped doing farming runs like me, this may rank lower on your list. The most dreaded requirement is obtaining the Bones to Peaches spell from the Mage Training Arena, known for its tedious grind.

    • Fremennik Boots 4: This item provides unlimited teleports to Rellekka, making it valuable for clue steps and accessing content in the area. The Elite tier requires 82 Runecrafting for double astral runes, which can be boosted.

    • Desert Amulet 4: This amulet provides heat protection in the desert and offers unlimited teleports to Nardah for stat restoration. However, its use declines as you progress into the late game. The toughest task is acquiring a Kq head from the Kalphite Queen.

Top Tier Rewards

    • Karamja Gloves 4: A must-have for Slayer enthusiasts, these gloves provide easy access to Duradel or Kuradal. They also reduce the cost of TzHaar items. The Elite tier requires 91 Runecrafting for double nature runes, which isn't too bad for Runecrafting fans like me.

    • Ardougne Cloak 4: A highly versatile cape, the Ardougne Cloak 4 offers unmatched prayer bonuses, making it a great choice for wilderness activities. The trickiest requirement here is crafting a rune crossbow from scratch due to the high smithing level needed.

    • Rada's Blessing 4: The best reward, in my opinion, is Rada's Blessing 4. It boasts amazing bonuses in the ammo slot, with teleports to key locations like Mount Karuulm and Konar. The toughest task here is defeating a Hydra with a Slayer level of 90, though it's worth the grind.

Part 2: Categorizing Diary Rewards

In the second part, I'll quickly categorize all the Diary rewards, moving from the least valuable to those you'll use throughout your entire OSRS journey.

Useless Rewards

    • Karamja Elite: Free cart rides between Brimhaven and Shilo Village.

    • Wilderness Elite: 200 random runes daily from a mage at the Mage Arena Bank.

    • Seers' Village Easy: Access to a deposit box near the Seers' agility course, is rarely needed.

Situational or Ironman-Specific Rewards

    • Western Provinces Elite: Higher catch rates for dark crabs, useful for Ultimate Ironman players.

    • Morytania Hard: Double fungi from casting bloom, helpful for prayer training.

    • Desert Elite: Ability to sell noted pyramid plunder items—more of a convenience than a necessity.

Useful Rewards

    • Varrock Armor 4: Provides a chance of double resources when mining, perfect for skilling grinds like Ironman mode.

    • Wilderness Sword 4: Great for frequent teleports to the Fountain of Rune and completing Master Clue steps.

    • Karamja Gloves 4: Slayer-centric teleports make these gloves a valuable companion during long task streaks.

Must-Have Rewards

    • Rada's Blessing 4: The teleport options and bonuses in the ammo slot make this a must for every player, especially for the late game.

    • Ardougne Cloak 4: Its unmatched prayer bonus makes it invaluable for both PvM and PvP.

    • Explorer's Ring 4: Essential for those focusing on farming, with teleports to the cabbage patch and the ability to high-alch without a magic book.

Conclusion

That's a wrap on my comprehensive breakdown of the best and worst Achievement Diary rewards in Old School RuneScape. Each Diary has its own set of challenges and benefits, and the right ones can significantly enhance your account progression. While some rewards may seem trivial, the ones that shine can transform your gameplay, offering key teleports, increased resource gathering, and other time-saving perks.
