OSRS Shooting Stars Overview
Sep-01-2021 PSTShooting stars are meteors that fall from the sky about every two hours. They can be mined to obtain start dust, which can then be exchanged at a shop located in the mining guild. This shop is run by the NPC named Dusuri, and the location where a shooting star fall can fall is completely random. A perk for members (P2P players) is that they can know the approximate time and location where a star is going to fall through a telescope in the study room of a POH (Player-owned house). You can also use a telescope in another player’s house. For the telescope to work, it shouldn’t be placed underground or in a room that is blocked by another room beside it, and the higher the quality of the telescope, the more precise time it will provide. Oak provides a 24-minute window, Teak provides a 9-minute window and Mahogany telescopes provide a 2-minute window. In any case, if there’s no star present in the sky, the following message appears: ‘You look through the telescope but you don’t see anything interesting.

The first person to mine a start will be named at the noticeboard found in the reception room, just north of the observatory, and a total of 5 players can be displayed on this board. As the start is mined from 0 to 100%, the size starts to reduce, and the time left to mind the start can be known by prospecting it. Mining the start not only gives you start dust, but also provides you with mining experience, but do keep in mind that equipment’s like mining gloves will not give any advantage while mining the crashed star. There is also a chance to obtain a rock golem while performing this act.
