OSRS Fortis Colosseum Guide: How to Obtain the Disis Quiver

Oct-15-2024 PST

Today, we’re diving into the Fortis Colosseum—a new and challenging encounter that has stirred up quite a buzz in the community. If you want to earn your very first (and maybe only) Disis Quiver, you’re in the right place. Even if you’ve never tried the Inferno, I’ll guide you through everything I’ve learned recently to get you comfortable with this intense, wave-based challenge.

Overview of the Fortis Colosseum

The Fortis Colosseum is a high-intensity, wave-based encounter where players face a series of tough enemies before challenging the final boss, the Soul Herited. It requires a combination of strategic combat, quick reflexes, and resource management to complete.

Requirements

  • Quest: The only quest required to access the Colosseum is Children of the Sun, which unlocks the city of Valmore.

  • Levels: While you can attempt this with combat stats around level 80-85, a more realistic shot at success comes with levels 95+ or even maxed stats.

  • Gear Recommendations:

o Prioritize melee and ranged setups. A combination of high-end weapons like the Scythe of Vitur and Twisted Bow (TBO) will be your best bet.

o If you can afford upgrades, go for the Scythe first, followed by the Twisted Bow and Masori armor.

o For those with access to Ancestral gear and the Shadow, Magic can be useful for specific waves, but overall, melee and ranged shine here.

Getting Started

To reach the Colosseum, teleport to Valmore and run east. After earning some Glory from initial runs, you’ll unlock a teleport option directly to the Colosseum lobby using a Ring of Dueling. Before entering, download the Fortis Colosseum plugin to keep track of monster spawns and active invocations, and set up NPC and ground markers.

Monsters and Strategies

The Fortis Colosseum features various monsters that require a tailored approach:

  • Firics: Each wave spawns three Firics—melee, mage, and ranger variants. Attack them with their respective weaknesses to maximize damage. For example, use Magic on melee Firics, melee on rangers, and ranged on mages.

  • Jaguar Warrior: This melee attacker can strike three times in a single tick, making it extremely dangerous. Safe spot it around pillars when possible.

  • Javelin Colossus: A ranged attacker that periodically throws a javelin. Watch out for the landing spot, as it can deal heavy damage if you stay still.

  • Manticore: A new type of enemy that charges up before attacking with different combat styles. Memorize the attack pattern (green = ranged, blue = magic, red = melee) and switch prayers accordingly.

  • Shockwave Colossus: A powerful mage with a long attack range. Use pillars for cover and take it down quickly, as it can dish out heavy damage.

  • Minotaur: Spawns from Wave 7 onward and heals nearby enemies. Proper positioning is critical to avoid letting it undo your progress.

Key Invocations

Invocations modify the difficulty of each wave. Here’s a quick breakdown:

  • Blasphemy: Drains your prayer based on damage taken. Choose lower tiers if you want an easier time managing prayer points.

  • Relentless: Increases enemies' max hits and ignores accuracy checks. Can be a tough challenge but manageable with high defense.

  • Myopia: Reduces your attack range, but can be bypassed by autocasting Ancient spells.

  • Re-entry: Causes Javelin Colossi to leave behind molten sand where their projectiles land. At higher tiers, the sand becomes permanent, complicating movement.

  • Doom Scorpion: Spawns a scorpion that applies Doom stacks. Reaching 20 stacks results in instant death, so prioritize avoiding this at higher tiers.

Strategy for Early Waves

1. Initial Setup: Start at the designated "B5" tile to minimize the chance of enemies spawning too close. Count five ticks after confirming your invocation and run to a nearby pillar.

2. Use Pillars Wisely: The pillars in the arena are crucial for safe-spotting enemies. By positioning yourself correctly, you can stack enemies on one side and take them out one by one.

3. Focus on Key Targets: Prioritize ranged enemies like the Javelin Colossus, as they can deal damage from a distance even while you’re engaged with other monsters.

4. Heal with Blood Barrage: If you’ve taken damage, using Blood Barrage on clustered enemies can provide significant healing while dealing damage.

Advanced Tips for Waves 7-11

  • Handle the Minotaur Carefully: It’s critical to avoid letting the Minotaur heal other monsters. Use safe-spotting techniques or freeze it temporarily while you deal with other threats.

  • Watch the Invocation Order: Pick higher-tier invocations of existing challenges over introducing new ones. This helps control the difficulty and limits surprises.

  • Prepare for Tough Stacks: When facing a difficult wave stack, don’t be afraid to reposition. Run to another pillar if needed to break up the group and manage attacks better.

The Final Boss: Soul Herited

The Soul Herited is the most formidable boss in OSRS, boasting powerful attacks and mechanics:

  • Attacks: The Soul Herited alternates between Spear and Shield attacks, requiring precise movement to dodge.

o Spear: On the first Spear attack, stand on tiles in the middle or near the edges of the arena.

o Shield: For the first Shield attack, move one tile away; subsequent Shield attacks require two tiles of distance.

  • Summoning Crystals: As the boss's health decreases, rotating crystals spawn around the arena, creating zones that must be avoided.

  • Molten Sand: The boss periodically summons beams of light that leave molten sand behind. Avoid these areas as standing on them will deal damage over time.

  • Quartet Invocation: If active, a random Firic will spawn alongside the boss. Quickly dispatch it to minimize distractions.

Recommended Invocations for Final Waves

Some invocations carry over to the final wave, adding complexity to the fight:

  • Avoid Doom Scorpion and Quartet unless you are confident in managing their effects.

  • Relentless and Myopia are manageable for experienced players and don’t impact the final boss too significantly.

  • Beast and Frailty can increase the challenge, but provide a good balance of risk and reward.

Conclusion and Final Thoughts

The Forus Coliseum is a challenging but rewarding encounter that tests both your combat skills and game knowledge. With practice, understanding enemy behavior, and managing invocations, you’ll improve your chances of earning the coveted Disis Quiver. It’s not an easy task, but the thrill of conquering this encounter makes it all worth it!

I hope this guide helped you get a better grasp of the Forus Coliseum and prepared you for the trials ahead.
