Loot from Rune Dragons Guide in OSRS
Aug-01-2024 PSTIn today's article, we're going to be doing loot from 1,000 Rune Dragons. To kill Rune Dragons, you will need to have completed Dragon Slayer 2, so it does have some pretty hefty requirements. You're also going to need some fairly expensive gear to do this if you want to do it long-term and make money.
One thing I like about Rune Dragons is that it's fairly AFK, so it's easy to hop onto another account, play another game, or watch a movie while you do this. Here's how I geared up and tackled these mighty dragons.
Gear Setup
For the last thousand kills, I was wearing the full Justiciar armor, which provides very nice defense bonuses for Rune Dragons because you do take quite a bit of damage here. I used the Dragonfire Shield and the Dragon Hunter Lance as my main weapon. The Mythical Cape was my choice, but you could easily bring something better like a Fire Cape. My other gear included a regular Fury, Barrow gloves, insulated boots (very important), and a Ring of Life.
The Ring of Life is crucial if you plan to AFK a lot. While some people prefer a Berserker ring, I find the Ring of Life more practical since I often play another account simultaneously. If I accidentally die, the Ring of Life will save me most of the time, preventing the need to pay 100K or whatever it is to get my items back.
Inventory Setup
Here's what I took in my inventory for each trip:
• Divine super combat potion
• Extended super anti-fire potion
• Three or four prayer potions
• Teleports (I used the Crafting Cape and house teleports)
• 10 sharks and 10 karambwans for food
Getting There and Starting the Trip
I started my trips by teleporting to my house, drinking from the Rejuvenation pool, and using the Digsite pendant to teleport directly to the Rune Dragons. This method makes banking quick and easy. The area is often busy with other players, but since I was AFKing, I didn't mind a couple of players around. If it got too crowded, I'd hop worlds.
Fighting Rune Dragons
Before entering the fight, I drank my Divine super combat and anti-fire potions and set my quick prayers to protect from magic and piety. Once prepared, I walked into the room and started AFKing the dragons.
Rune Dragons can hit hard, so keeping an eye on health is crucial. The Ring of Life saved me multiple times, preventing unnecessary deaths and saving me GP in the long run. When my health got low, I'd eat a shark and a karambwan simultaneously to quickly restore my health.
Drops and Loot
Rune Dragons always drop a rune bar and dragon bones. They also drop other valuable items like runite ore, rune platebodies, dragon equipment, and various runes. With over 1,000 kills, I collected a significant amount of valuable loot.
Results After 1,000 Kills
After 1,000 kills, I was excited to see the results. Here's a breakdown of what I collected:
• 1,000 rune bars
• 1,000 dragon bones (though I didn't pick all of them up)
• 5,000 runite ore
• Numerous rune platebodies, dragon equipment, and runes
• 53 dragonstones
• 9 dragon medium helms
• Various herbs and ammunition
Total Value and Profit
I used the Grand Exchange to sell everything off. The total value of my loot was approximately 35 million GP. However, after deducting the costs of potions, food, and other supplies (around 4 to 6 million GP), the net profit came to roughly 28 to 30 million GP.
Conclusion
Killing Rune Dragons can be a very profitable and relatively AFK method to make OSRS gold in Old School Runescape. Throughout two and a half weeks, I managed to make a substantial profit while multitasking with other activities. This method's AFK nature makes it ideal for players looking to earn money without constant attention.
