Maximizing Efficiency: A Guide to Old School RS Hunter Rumors

Apr-29-2024 PST

Today, we're diving deep into the world of Hunter Rumors, a game-changing addition to the Hunter skill. Whether you're a seasoned Hunter or just starting, this guide will equip you with everything you need to know to level up your Hunter skill efficiently. So, let's jump right in!

What are Hunter Rumors?

First of all, to those of you who haven't been around, what are Hunter's rumors? This is just a fancy word for let's say contract or task, where a member of the Hunter Guild will ask you to hunt a specific creature until you find what they call a rare creature part. You will then bring it back to them for additional experience and a looting bag containing a lot of Hunter-related goodies. Simply put, they are to Hunter what a task is for Slayer and a contract is for farming. The only thing you need to interact with this content is the quest "The Children of the Sun" to access Valmore and at least level 46 Hunter for the lowest tier of Hunter rumors. When you level up to 91, you need to complete a quest called "At First Delight," which will unlock Master tier rumors, the best way to train.

The Backbone of Hunter Rumors: Blocking Creatures

Now, let's talk about the backbone of how to make this activity more tolerable by blocking creatures you are not a fan of. Although there's no explicit option to block a task like we do for Slayer Masters, we can use this assignment mechanic to our advantage. Whatever level you are, you can use multiple Hunters at once, and each will ask you to hunt a different creature. If you talk to Hunter A and they tell you to hunt, let's say, a Saber-tooth Kebbit, if you talk to another Hunter that can assign these, he or she will not be able to give you the same rumor that is currently active for another Hunter. You can do this for any creature that multiple Hunters can assign. This acts like a soft blocklist, allowing you to tailor your tasks to your preferences.
